Is this causing you overwhelm?

As business owners and leaders, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to perform. To be the best. To always be winning. Even just to look like we’re successful. But these expectations that we put on ourselves, to get it all done and to be everything… Often can be the underlying reason of our overwhelm. The expectation that we can be it all. The expectation that we can do it all. Normally, they’re self imposed expectations. They don’t normally come from those around us. And if they do, it’s because we set those expectations for them. We create them. We set the expectation with what we allow. Like the expectation that we’re always available. Or that we’ll do anything for our customers, for our staff. We set the expectation that we will always say Yes. And we have expectations on ourselves that we can do everything and be everything. One of the best ways to overcome overwhelm is to shift those expectations. Shift the expectations on ourselves. Cut yourself some slack. Allow yourself more time to do things. Shift the deadline. Shift the expectation that you will always be available. Set new rules. What expectations do you have of yourself or that you’ve allowed others to have that you need to change? It might feel like an impossible task. I hear things like this all the time. “I can’t change it, it’s just how it is.” “My customers expect me to be available, otherwise I might lose a sale.” You didn’t create your business to be at the beck and call of everyone to the detriment of you.
